Cranbrook: a pretty village set in miles of Kentish countryside

The village of Cranbrook sits in the heart of Kent, close to Royal Tunbridge Wells, in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside, lush woodland and plenty of walking trails, it's a nature-lover's dream.

Not sure where to start? Search online for popular walking trails, or make your own - simply grab a map and head off towards the fields for a peaceful walk through the Garden of England.

A village full of history

Cranbrook is most well-known for the Union Mill, a windmill that overlooks the historic village. A Grade-I-listed building and the tallest smock mill in Britain, it's a beautiful reminder of the village's rich history.

Visit the windmill between March and September, or head to the Cranbrook Museum to learn all about its history. Elsewhere in the area, you'll find plenty of 14th and 15th century manor houses to explore - the Weald is well-known for them.

Horticultural heaven at Sissinghurst Castle Garden

Down the road from Cranbrook lies Sissinghurst Castle, a beautiful 16th century tower in the village of Sissinghurst. The garden was taken over in the 1930s and transformed into a stunning Arts and Crafts-style landscape.

Visit the National Trust property for 460 acres of beautiful Wealden countryside, and be sure to check online before you come - the estate often hosts garden talks and workshops.
