All the world's a stage at Shakespeare's Globe

Shakespeare's Globe sits south of the Thames on Southwark's Bankside and houses the open-air Globe Theatre. Initially built in 1599, this reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse maintains its original design and there are free tours throughout the day. Get transported back to the 16th century when you watch a Shakespearean production from the Globe's stalls.

Explore Bankside

Shakespeare's Globe sits inside Bankside's cultural quarter and is just steps away from some of London's most significant attractions. The Tate Modern is Nearby, as is Borough market - one of the capital's most famous markets, serving up a wealth of international cuisines.

Shakespeare was not the only writer to be inspired by this area and a tour of Bankside run by The Globe points out some of the spots that inspired many of Charles Dickens' books.

Take a tour of St Paul's

Just half a mile's walk away is St Paul's Cathedral - a 500-year-old place of worship and flagship stop on any London sightseeing map. Take a tour of the magnificent interior or if you're time-pressed, grab a selfie outside.
