Expand your mind at Tate Modern

Tate Modern is a cutting-edge art gallery housed in the former Bankside Power Station, on the south side of the river Thames in central London and accessed from the north of the river by the elegant Millennium Bridge. The huge turbine hall has been home to a series of spectacular headline-grabbing giant installations and the gallery is free to enter, apart from certain exhibitions. Home to renowned modern art works including Dali's Metamorphosis of Narcissus and Roy Lichentein's Whaam!, wander the galleries and then ponder what it all means over a coffee while enjoying stunning views over London.

What to do and see in central London

Tate Modern is an easy walk from some of central London's best-loved attractions. For more great views head to The London Eye; catch some of the Bard's work at Shakespeare's Globe or for even more culture The National Theatre and Hayward Gallery are also very close by. Foodies will love Borough Market which is open Monday to Saturday or for pumping beats come nightfall head to the Nearby Ministry of Sound.

Take a trip down the Thames

A great way to enjoy London is to take a cruise down the river Thames. Travel to Greenwich to see the famous observatory or if you prefer dry land, walk over the river and you're within easy reach of St Paul's Cathedral.
