Cutting-edge design at the University of the Arts London

The UAL is Europe's biggest specialist art and design university, with a global reputation for cutting-edge fashion and the arts. Six colleges in various parts of London make up the university, all with their own galleries to showcase students' talents. The main hub is in Holborn, which has the benefit of being centrally located without being too overcrowded.

The university has some illustrious former students, including Charles Saatchi, John Hurt, Jimmy Choo and Alexander McQueen.

Have a chuckle at the Cartoon Museum

Love The Beano or Punch? London's first cartoon museum is dedicated to the best of British cartoons, comics, caricatures and animation, from the 1750s to the present day.

See original artwork by some of the founding fathers of British comics, including David Law of Dennis the Menace fame, and have a chuckle at the comic-strips on display. There are changing exhibitions throughout the year, but the permanent collection includes works by Gerald Scarfe and Heath Robinson.

Stroll along the Embankment

To the south of the museum, the Victoria Embankment is a pleasant place to walk along the Thames from the Palace of Westminster to Blackfriars Bridge. You'll get amazing views of the London skyline, taking in Westminster, the City and Millbank.
