Visit the "Grand Old Lady" of football

Home to Everton Football Club, Goodison Park - which dates back to 1892 - is one of the oldest purpose-built football stadia in the world. Of course, much has changed over the years - these days, Goodison has almost 40,000 seats and features all the mod cons one might expect of the Premier League venue - but the history and its place in Merseyside football remain much-admired.

Explore the area

The stadium is located in Walton, and the area - alongside adjacent Bootle - are well worth exploring. Stanley Park and Walton Hall Park are both ideal places to get some fresh air or to explore with kids, while Strand Shopping Centre is a good, well-equipped multi-level mall with plenty of big-brand stores.

Discover Liverpool's musical heritage

Liverpool - whose city centre is less than three miles from Goodison - has plenty going for it, but for most it will be best known as the home of the Beatles (among other great pop acts). It's for this reason that it was dubbed the "City of Pop" by the Guinness Book of Records, and everywhere from the World Museum Liverpool to the iconic Cavern Club are well worth any music aficionado's time.

Planning a trip to Goodison Park? Travelodge Liverpool Stonedale Park Hotel and Travelodge Liverpool Stoneycroft Hotel are both within a few miles of the stadium, while Travelodge Liverpool Central The Strand Hotel is ideal for city centre stays.
