A day out with the kids at Wallesey beach

Just across the River Mersey from the vibrant city of Liverpool, coastal Wallasey is close to several fine beaches. Perhaps best known, Wallasey Beach is popular with bathers and attracts kitesurfers in the summer months due to favourable wind conditions. Get down early to bag a spot in the free car park and join the locals for lunch on the grassland next to the sand, a perfect picnic spot.

Liverpool is where the art is

The buzzing city of Liverpool, just 15 minutes from Wallasey, is known for its shopping and nightlife, but it's also one of England premier destinations for arts and culture lovers. Start at the historic UNESCO World Heritage listed Albert Dock, where you'll find the northern outpost of the Tate Modern, housing painting and sculpture from the nineteenth century onwards. Kids will love the World Museum, housing spooky ancient Egyptian mummies and fascinating dinosaur bones.

England's finest ancient city

Wallasey sits just 30 minutes by car from the ancient city of Chester, home to fascinating architecture and some of Cheshire's best shopping. Start on Bridge Street, where you can spot Chester Rows, which date as far back as the thirteenth century, and the Grade I listed fourteenth century St Peter's Church. Chesire Oaks Designer Outlet is just outside the city. Planning a trip to Wallasey?
