Sun yourself in Southwold
The idyllic seaside town of Southwold is around 10 minutes' drive away. Build castles on the sandy beach and wander the traditional pier - there's a golf course in town too for those keen on the game. The town itself has lovely independent boutiques and some good pubs, or for something different catch a film at the small but perfectly formed Electric Picture Palace, a boutique cinema complete with its own organ.
If thrills are your thing, head to Pleasureworld Hills at Lowestoft where daring sorts will love to try out rides such as Wipeout! or The Jolly Roger. If you prefer things a bit quieter, take the ferry from Southwold to Nearby Walberswick which has a lovely beach, or head down the coast a little way towards Dunwich where the heath and beach are run by the National Trust and offer beautiful walking and the chance to spot the rare stone curlew.
