Seeing Sunderland

Sunderland is a vibrant coastal city, spread over the river Wear on the north-east edge of England. Its coastline is home to a traditional pier and beautiful cliff parks, and the host of one of the UK's largest air shows every July. The city centre is home to an eclectic selection of nightlife, shopping, and cultural centres like the rustic and glamorous Sunderland Empire Theatre. A short drive away from the coast will bring you out into the gorgeous countryside of Tyne and Wear.

The National Glass Centre

The University of Sunderland's National Glass Centre is an impressive cultural attraction and venue, and a must-see for anyone visiting the city for the first time. It's an interesting reflection of Sunderland's rich glass making heritage, as well as a showcase for some of the finest glasswork from contemporary artisans.
