Discover a murky past at Nottingham Castle

Perched on a rock high above the streets, the legendary home of Robin Hood's sworn enemy the Sheriff of Nottingham commands spectacular views over the city. Its turbulent history is littered with tales of intrigue and murder. Beneath the castle lies a labyrinth of caves and tunnels, and you can take a tour of them to discover more about the city's past. Afterwards, take a selfie with the famous Robin Hood statue just outside the castle walls.

Shop at Broadmarsh

Near the castle is the cosy Broadmarsh shopping centre, home to high-street favourites including Argos, Blue Inc and Dorothy Perkins. Plans for a multimillion-pound refurb will see it transformed into a modern leisure complex by 2020, complete with multiplex cinema and bowling alley. Broadmarsh is also where you'll find popular tourist attraction the City of Caves, giving you access to the underground sandstone caves of the city.

Nottingham-born fashion designer Paul Smith's flagship store is at Willoughby House, which sits on the caves.

Enjoy a night out at the Theatre Royal

The Theatre Royal is one of the most impressive Victorian theatres in the UK. The city centre landmark has been entertaining people for more than 140 years, with a mix of opera, ballet, musicals, comedy and panto. From Jimmy Carr to Hairspray, it attracts all the top touring shows.
