Peckforton Castle - medieval perfection

Set in the dramatic Peckforton Hills just north of the Cheshire town of Peckforton, the medieval-style Peckforton Castle is actually a Victorian manor house dating back to 1851. Today, it's a wedding venue, restaurant and spa, as well as the base for Cheshire's Land Rover Experience. The Sandstone Trail winds around the base of the castle, while the ruins of magnificent Beeston Castle are visible from the hill.

Dramatic mountain views at Beeston Castle

For fantastic views across the Cheshire countryside, visit medieval Beeston Castle. Perched dramatically on a rocky crag overlooking the Cheshire Plain, you can see as far as the Pennines and the Welsh mountains on a clear day. Brought the kids with you? The castle is full of nooks and crannies perfect for a game of hide and seek, while the woodland walks through the Plain provide plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife.

Visit the ancient city of Chester

Peckforton is half an hour's drive from Chester, an ancient city encompassed by Roman walls. With Tudor-style buildings lining the streets and a Gothic cathedral at its centre, it's certainly a historic city. But Chester's prize attraction is Chester Zoo, which is home to over 15,000 animals, from adorable two-toed sloths to creepy crocodiles. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Peckforton Castle?
