Scenic beauty in the South West

Welcome to England's South West, a place of rich historic influence and culture alongside breath-taking coastal landscapes. From Cornwall to Wiltshire the South West is home to world-famous landmarks, traditions, folklore and events such as the Glastonbury Festival. There is something for everyone in this special place.

The standing stones

In the South West there's no escaping Salisbury's Stonehenge, truly a wonder of the world. The prehistoric monument features a ring of stones each with a weight of around 25 tonnes. These 13ft colossal stones have been in place for thousands of years and to this day no one knows their origins. Explore what is known of their history at the visitor centre and take in the splendour of the stones at your leisure.

The Eden Project

If Stonehenge is the legacy of early mankind the biome domes of the Eden Project could be ours. The spectacular domes reach up to 180ft high and house thousands of different plant species with each dome creating a natural environment to help them thrive. Outside the attraction you can also find a botanical garden and thought-provoking sculptures that help to make for a very memorable day out.

Our Travelodge Amesbury Stonehenge hotel is a perfect place to stay if you want access to the standing stones. Alternatively, why not try our locations in St Austell or Bodmin Roche, just a few miles from the Eden Project.
