A live music celebration when visiting Sheffield Hallam University

Right in the centre of Yorkshire's "Steel City", Sheffield Hallam University could not get any closer to the action.

Bands from the city include the Arctic Monkeys, Pulp and The Human League, and so it's no wonder that Sheffield's nightlife has become synonymous with live music and there are lots of venues, pubs and bars where you can enjoy established and breaking acts.

Lots of bars serve Sheffield's energetic student community, and there are lots of happy hours and well-priced watering holes to choose from.

A meander down Ecclesall Road

Running 3.6 miles from Sheffield's centre through Hunter's Bar, Ecclesall Road is a seemingly endless supply of shops, restaurants and bars.

Pick up some second-hand books, vintage fashions and recycled vinyl, or have a bit to eat in one of the quirky cafes, gastropubs or independent restaurants.

A tropical oasis in the heart of the city

Sheffield's Winter Garden is right across the road from campus, and is one of the largest urban glasshouses in Europe.

Lovely warm temperatures maintain more than 2,500 plants from across the world, making for all-year-round summer inside the glass structure, even when it's snowing outside.
