Thrills and spills in Surrey

Sitting on the banks of the River Thames, Chertsey offers everything from adrenaline-filled adventures to nature trails and artisan shops. Crossing the river is Chertsey Bridge. It's a seven-span arch bridge dating from the late 1700s, and makes a picturesque setting for leisurely country walks. The town is very close to the M25, within easy reach of Heathrow Airport and London's glittering attractions.

A fun day out at Thorpe Park

The white-knuckle thrills of the popular theme park are just 5 minutes away by car. Face your fears on the horror movie-themed rollercoaster Saw, and be propelled from 0-80mph, to 250ft in 2 seconds on Stealth. New for 2017 is Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon, a terrifying virtual reality ride designed to play tricks with your mind. Be warned - it's definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Let rip on the water

For thrills on the water, head to JBSki, where you can learn to wakeboard and waterski. The all-new aqua park floating obstacle course is loads of fun for families and groups. For quieter pursuits, head to Chertsey Meads for a stroll round the meadows. You can hire a boat, and even go up the Thames as far as Windsor Castle. Looking for accommodation in Chertsey?
