Love TED Talks? Events for the Curious

TED talks made being intellectual hip. And thanks to a wave of TED-talk inspired events popping up around the country, you don’t have to feed your curiosity via the internet any longer.

Take a brain break from your business travel meet-ups and head for these stimulating events:

1. Lost Lectures

The Lost Lectures are lecture halls re-imagined, catering for creative fun-seekers with a need for information. Their particular brand of hosted talks and events take on a Secret Cinemaesque tone with secret locations, intriguing themes and copious cocktails.

The idea is to dig up the academics and decision makers from their dusty hideaways and bring them to a new audience. Speakers have ranged from secretive internet star Cassetteboy to chemistry teacher and showman Andrew Szydio.

The Lost Lectures host events in and around London and also at summer festivals and events around the country. Check their website for the latest listings.

2. School of Life

In need of a push in the right direction? The School of Life’s headquarters in London’s Bloomsbury are where you go to develop your emotional intelligence and pick up your quality of life.

Their talks and ‘classes’ are led by industry experts and cover topics including Dating Better and Networking for People Who Don’t Like Networking.

Our London Travelodge Euston is just a short walk away, so you can rest your weary mind at the end of the day.

3. Super/Collider

Science meets party with these fashionable events that are designed to bring you cutting-edge science from a pop culture perspective.

They host parties and events that bring together scientific exploration and the event world’s biggest names. Their recent exploration of lasers included talks from plasma physicists as well as psychedelic tea from Bompass & Parr and music from To the Lazer Cave.

They also offer interactive workshops where you can try your hand at creating art from unusual substances and materials, such as cyanotypes. Check their website for the latest calendar of events.

Interactive cultural events covering science, arts and psychology. Despite the name, the monthly events take place around the country including London, Yorkshire (not far from our Travelodge Skipton), Warwick and Surrey.
