Heading to Newcastle for business?

Make the most of your time in the jewel of the North by heading to a cool café for the best local coffee and to borrow some wifi for a quick email check-in.

Here’s our guide to the best cafés for working on the go in Newcastle.

Just bring a laptop and get stuck in.

1. Quay Ingredient

Quay Ingredient is a small independent coffee house directly underneath the Tyne Bridge. It’s a cosy little café with a big local following thanks to the friendly waiting staff who are always ready to help. If you’re arriving early enough, the breakfasts here are delicious, particularly the eggs Benedict. Due to the small and intimate nature of the place this is not the best café for holding meetings, but if what you’re looking for is an internet connection and a great cup of coffee, this is a great little spot.

2. Blake’s

Right in the heart of Newcastle, this quirky local café serves up tasty platters of food, including light bites and salad bowls as well as divine coffee roasted to perfection. If you need a quick but hearty lunch as you work, this is the place to go. Blakes only use Fairtrade products, so your daily brew will also be totally guilt-free.

3. Flat Caps Coffee

Stylish and sophisticated, Flat Caps is an award-winning coffee house with baristas who take their art seriously. This is a coffeehouse for serious coffee lovers. You can choose between three different methods of brewing: filter, aeropress or the old-fashioned syphon method which looks like a science experiment at your table. Not a coffee fan? Try the indulgent hot chocolate served in a huge mug with whipped cream and marshmallows.

4. The Snug Cafe at CBK

When you’re away from home, finding a place where you can really relax and feel comfortable is a gift. The Snug Café at Cullercoats Bike and Kayak offers a friendly, calm environment nestled above a busy workshop. The café is small and so is the kitchen, so expect light snacks and small meals served with delicious, locally roasted coffee. This is the perfect place to cosy up with your laptop for a few hours of hard work on a rainy day.
