Leeds is a lively student city with a predictably large range of venues, perfect for partying with friends or making new ones. And when you stay in a Leeds Travelodge you’ve got a central base as well as clever value for money.

We’ll say it again: the nightlife in Leeds is particularly good. And as any music fan knows, the city definitely likes to have a good time.

Here is our pick of the best places to mingle with the locals and get your dance on during an evening on the town.

1. MOJO

This classic rock ‘n’ roll bar is the right venue for a chilled-out drink early in the evening or a full-out party late into the night. MOJO does serve tasty food and drinks, but the music is the main star of the show and taken very seriously. The brioche-bun burgers are to die for and a hard(milk)shake is the perfect way to finish off a meal.

The lemon chiffon shake, made with limoncello and white cacao, is particularly indulgent and the MOJO brownie is equally naughty as it’s spiked with rum. Staying open until 4 am on most nights, MOJO is the place for a rock star night.

2. The 02 Academy

If live music is your life, then check out the calendar at the O2 Academy for some great gigs. You’ll find all your favourite artists from across the UK, and possibly even some you’ve not seen live yet. Located in a spectacular Grade I-listed building, the O2 Academy also hosts regular club nights and after parties at its below-ground club, Underground. Experience a live-music high, before partying the night away, glad to have your warm Travelodge bed to recover in at the end of the night.

3. Call Lane Social

This infamous Leeds venue is open seven nights a week and a great destination for a good-priced night out. It’s split over two levels, and the upstairs Tiki Hideaway is a real gem. So with a cocktail in hand, your short break will feel far more exotic. Hosting a beach party every night between Wednesday and Saturday, the Tiki’s Aloha spirit is sure to banish any British blues. It’s no wonder that Call Lane Social won best newcomer at the Leeds Best Bar awards. No trip with mates to Leeds is complete without this tropical experience .

4. Control

This 3,000-capacity club is the go-to place for a big night out, with all the lasers you could ever dream of. Control even has the world’s first ever indoor Geodome. Saturday nights are probably the biggest night out in the North, and this is a great place to mingle with locals and students alike. The Ibiza-quality sound system is sure to have you raving late into the night and the huge main room LED visual wall makes Control even more of a clubbers’ paradise.
