What is parkrun?
Parkrun is a free, weekly timed 5km event where people walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate. With over 1,300 events across the UK, parkrun is held in local parks or open spaces with marshals stationed at key points to guide and support runners. Most importantly, parkruns are designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all ages and abilities. Parkrun is focused on encouraging fitness, social connection and enjoyment in a friendly setting and is less about competition.
At parkrun, children under 11 must run within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian for safety during the 5k events. Younger participants aged 4 to 14 also have the option of junior parkrun, a 2k event designed especially for them. Beyond that, there are no upper age limits, and people of all ages are welcome to take part!
