Next up on our Brontë pilgrimage, we’re heading six miles down the road to the charming village of Thornton. The Brontë Birthplace is a modest stone terrace where Charlotte, Emily, and Anne were all born between 1816 and 1820 and restored and reopened to the public in 2025 as part of Bradford’s City of Culture celebrations.
With a wonderfully intimate, community-run centred feel, you can stand right in front of the original Regency fireplace where the siblings were born and explore the rooms where they first began to imagine their famous fictional worlds.
