New Year Fitness Breaks in the North

The Battle with the Bulge begins 2nd January 2015 and plenty of us will be on the front line, New Year’s resolutions in hand and tight-fitting clothes hugging our post-festive season bodies. But don’t despair.

What if we told you there was a way you could get fit and cheer yourself up with a little holiday at the same time?

Well, look no further for the perfect motivational trip this January. We’ve got three ideal spots to get you loving the active life again. And if you’re looking for somewhere to stay up north, Travelodge is a great first port of call!

1. Hit the dirt in Newcastle

If you have some partners in crime looking for a fun way to get fit in the New Year, Newcastle’s F.I.T. Club Assault Course is the destination for you. Try your hand at surviving some treacherous team events including a filthy Mud Crawl, the ominous sounding Death Tunnel and a dip in the River Run.

And if you’re with the family, there’s also a junior assault course to keep your little ones busy. Expect a lot of climbing, sliding and crawling. Oh, and a contentedly sleepy child by the end of it.

After all that, you’ll need somewhere to relax, so why not crash out at our Newcastle Travelodge and explore this friendly city for the weekend.

2. Take the Sandstone Trail in Cheshire

One of the most popular and beautiful walks in the UK, the Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail stretches for a breath-taking 34 miles – making it both fun to tackle and a mean physical feat.

Often elevated, always pleasant, the scenery offers what can only be described as a quintessential example of England’s fine flora and fauna. And just to balance out all this exercise, a stay in our Cheshire Travelodge means you can also treat yourself to some retail therapy in the January sales.

3. Slope off to the Chill Factor-e in Manchester

What better way to shift those post-Christmas blues than hitting the snow? Not only is a day at the UK’s longest indoor skiing and snowboarding slope great fun, it’s also the perfect place to get fit this January.

Manchester’s Chill Factor is a short, 4-mile jaunt from the city centre and boasts a whopping 180-metre real snow slope. It also caters for all levels of skier and snowboarder, so the whole family can enjoy a day out.

Book up a room in our Manchester Travelodge now and get practicing those snowploughs!
