After stretching your mind it’s time to stretch your wallet with a wander around Cambridge’s finest retail outlets. There’s a seven-days-a-week market that is popular with the locals and the All Saint’s Garden Art and Craft market too which is on Saturday (but well worth hanging around for).

If you’re looking for something a bit different, then the high street has all the brands and designers you could want, while there are also loads of independent boutiques and shops where you can pick up something special to remind you of your trip.

3. Chow down at St John’s Chop House

Dating back to the 17th Century, St John’s Chop House is olde-worlde charm meets gastropub chic and that’s just as soon as you step in the door.

The wide range of ales and craft beers is a real pull, while classic fare such as duck leg, hotpot and sausage and mash means you’ll be well fed and watered after an evening in this no-frills eatery.

4. Dance the night away at La Raza

Finish your day in Cambridge in La Raza, a classy bar that is famous for its cocktails (both on the menu and created just for you), its wine and its live music.

With bands and DJs 2-3 times a week and a bulging drinks menu, this is the perfect place to dance the night away before laying your head in one of our cheap hotels in Cambridge to complete a whirlwind 24 hours in one of Britain’s most beautiful towns.
