An introduction to Millom

Nestled on the edge of the Lake District national park, Millom is a small, historic coastal town in southern Cumbria. For much of its history, it was a sparse cluster of farms and hamlets, until iron ore was discovered in the area, and the newfound mining industry helped Millom swell into a prosperous town. This proud history is commemorated by a locally famous statue in the town centre called The Scutcher.
