Located at the mouth of the River Derwent on the Cumbrian coast, Workington is an ancient industrial port with a proud history of iron and steel production. You can find out more about the area's social and industrial history at the Helena Thompson Museum. It also has displays of pottery, silver, costumes and furniture dating from Georgian times.

Red squirrels and mountain walks in Loweswater
Why not head inland to explore some of the quieter parts of the Lake District? Loweswater is one of the smallest lakes on the western edges of the national park, and you can find peace and tranquillity here. The Loweswater Walk takes in breath-taking mountain scenery - you might even catch a glimpse of a red squirrel darting around the conifers along the way.
