Ride with heavy horses in Verwood

Lying on the western fringes of the New Forest in Dorset, leafy Verwood is surrounded by trees and heathland. It used to be at the centre of the pottery industry thanks to its clay soil, with over 30 kilns in the vicinity. You can learn more about its past at Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre. Just outside the town is Dorset Heavy Horse and Farm Park, which provides one of the country's last refuges for heavy horses. Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride, pony grooming and the collection of gypsy caravans.
