Tour historic Edinburgh

University of Edinburgh is one of the UK's - and the world's - most prestigious institutions. The main campus is within walking distance of the renowned historical sites in the Scottish capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start at the iconic Edinburgh Castle, which dates back to the 12th century and offers stunning views across the city from atop Castle Rock. Down in town you'll find the Scottish National Gallery, where European and Scottish masterpieces are housed in a stunning neoclassical complex.

Experience Edinburgh's nightlife

The Scottish capital is renowned for its nightlife, and University of Edinburgh is within easy reach of the city's bars, pubs and restaurants. Whistle Binkies is perfect for music fans, with live bands seven nights a week. Bannerman's is one of the city's favourite whisky bars, while the World's End serves up cask ale to wash down an extensive burger menu. The main event, though, is Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts, comedy, theatre and music festival anywhere in the world.

Meet the pandas at Edinburgh Zoo

Kids big and small can't fail to be in awe of Yang Guang and Tian Tian, the UK's only giant pandas, who live at the sprawiling Edinburgh Zoo. But it's not all about about cute pandas, the zoo is also home to ferocious lions and cheeky chimps.
