Sands and snorkelling in family-friendly Burntisland

In the south of beautiful Fife, Burntisland has lots to offer with a stunning sandy beach complete with daily funfair during the summer. Head to the Beacon Leisure Centre for indoor swimming plus flumes, sauna and steam room, or more adventurous types will love that Burntisland is also home to DiveBunker - site of some of Scotland's best wreck diving. Newcomers to scuba diving can get an introductory session while those who are qualified will have the chance to go out with the DiveBunker crew.

Elegant Edinburgh

Burntisland is also the perfect spot to explore the delights of Nearby Edinburgh. There's so much to see but highlights are the Royal Mile bookended at the bottom by Holyrood Palace and at the top by Edinburgh Castle; shopping on Princes Street, and the Royal Scottish Academy at the foot of The Mound. Head down the Grassmarket at night for some great bars and clubs. In August the streets literally buzz when the Fringe comes to town - it's one of the world's finest arts festivals where comedians traditionally cut their teeth.

Golfers are well catered for with picturesque Dodhead Golf Club in Burntisland and Aberdour's course just down the coast. Don't fancy a day on the green?
