Hackney Wick is an area of east London within the borough of Hackney that includes the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The area has recently seen exciting growth, thanks to the 2012 Olympic Games which were based here, plus a flourishing arts scene. If you love cutting edge art, head to The White Building on Queen's Lane which is home to artists' studios and hosts exhibitions. Hungry? Walk down East Bay Lane for great canal side eating. Start the day at The Breakfast Club and then there's Shane's Canalside and Gotto's Trattoria, both great for families.

Go for gold at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

There's lots for everyone at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Sporty types will love a visit to one of the park's iconic venues, such as The Copper Box Arena where you join an exercise class or shape up in the gym. Have a swim at the London Aquatics Centre, or get on your bike at the VeloPark. You may prefer to simply stroll around the site, take a boat tour - or for an adrenaline rush, the Arcelormittal Orbit offers an amazing slide experience like no other.

Shop till you drop

This area of London's great for shopping. If mainstream's your thing, Westfield Stratford is Nearby and Europe's biggest shopping mall.
