Award-winning theatre at the University of Southampton

To the north of the city centre, in the Highfield area of Southampton, the university’s main campus lies on the edge of a large woodland. Southampton Common is a haven for wildlife, and a popular place for charity runs and walks.

The university's award-winning Nuffield Southampton Theatres host shows on campus, and there’s a 330-seat cinema at the students' union.

Wander through the Cultural Quarter

Southampton has undergone a lot of regeneration in recent years, with the growing Cultural Quarter creating a colourful and vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city.

At the SeaCity Museum you can discover Southampton’s links with the ill-fated Titanic, while at the City Art Gallery (where entry is free) you can admire surrealist and British contemporary paintings and sculptures.
