Experience Kent - the garden of England

Set in the eye-catching district of Seven Oaks, the village of Halstead offers superb access to the scenic Kent countryside. Owned by the Kent Wildlife Trust, why not take a visit to Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve which has five enchanting lakes with woodland and pond habitats providing amazing bird watching opportunities. The reserve has an interesting Visitor Centre with cafe for refreshments.

Watch Birds of Prey

Travel 2 miles south west of Halstead and you'll find the Willows Bird of Prey Centre, which holds bird of prey & falconry experiences in Knockholt Village. From owls to falcons and hawks, you can enjoy a visit to this bird of prey centre at any time of year. The woodland area has a great natural trail to explore and there is a cafe in Coolings Green and Pleasant to complete your nature experience with a treat.

Home of Charles Darwin

Go a little further afield and you'll find plenty of history in the Charles Darwin's former home 'Down House'. Darwin moved to this beautiful home in 1838 to accommodate their growing family and created the widely accepted theory of evolution by natural selection. Walk around Darwin's 'thinking paths' in the beautiful gardens of Down House. Our Travelodge London Sidcup Hotel is located under 7 miles away from Halstead - great for a cheap overnight stay.
