A Lancashire town with intriguing history

As a charming local community with Viking roots, just north of Ormskirk and south of Rufford on the A59, Burscough civil parish is also home to the hamlet of Tarlscough as well as the ruins of Burscough Priory established around 1190. Burscough is positioned between two bridges the Leeds-Liverpool canal and the other over the Southport-Manchester railway line. Check out some of the canal pubs in Burscough to relax whilst enjoying this West Lancashire village.

Take a walk around the Lancashire Wetlands

If you're looking to entertain the kids then Burscough contains the Martin Mere Wetland Centre, a fantastic nature reserve where family-friendliness and wilderness come together. Enjoy the spectacle of cute ducklings and migrating swans - and best of all, if you book online you receive a ten percent discount.

Where to go to be like the locals

Burscough is one of the key walking spots of the Leeds Liverpool canal, too, and if the weather is hot and the sun is shining, it makes a great spot to witness local points of interest, such as the Ainscough Flour Mill. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the local Burscough area, the Travelodge Southport hotel is just a short drive away.
