Take a trip in a tank

Lutterworth, found in the south of Leicestershire, goes down in history as the city where inventor Sir Frank Whittle developed some of his first ever jet engines. You may spot the not-so-little memorial to Whittle on a roundabout in the south of the town. But, for those of you not so keen on jets, there's always the local tank. Armourgeddon lets friends and families get together for an explosive day out like no other. Play paintball, hit the rifle range or even drive around the area in a full-sized tank.

Look at the perfect locks

Just a 20-minute drive outside of Lutterworth are the 10 fabulous Foxton Locks. The locks and their surrounding landscape are worth seeing for the picture-perfect views alone, but there's also more than meets the eye. Today, you can stand by the Inclined Plane and point your mobile phone to see additional material and special surprises. Old school engineering genius meets smart technology.

A little slice of Lutterworth history

Lutterworth may not be the biggest place in the world, but it has a whole lot of history. From Frank Whittle's aviation inventions to a collection of the Corrall family's classic clocks, the independent Lutterworth & District Museum has all the town's history in one place.
