Begin your trip to South London in Charlton

Found in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in South London, Charlton was actually in Kent until it became classed as part of the city in the mid-1800s. These days it is perhaps best known for two very different things - the stunning Jacobean architecture of Charlton House and its football team Charlton Athletic, who play at The Valley stadium.

Explore the rest of Greenwich

As part of Greenwich, Charlton is close to a range of fantastic attractions. The Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park is a great modern location for enjoying local wildlife, while you can see some of the world's best artists perform at The O2. Stars of a different kind can also be enjoyed at the Nearby Royal Greenwich Observatory, which is now also home to a museum and planetarium.
