Up and coming Woolwich

Once a town in Kent, Woolwich is now a district of south-east London, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It was also the original home of Arsenal FC, who are now located in the north of the capital. For much of its history, Woolwich has been an important military and industrial area, but is currently undergoing an urban renewal programme. It's possible to cross the River Thames here via a ferry and a footpath to the London Docklands.

Touch history in Greenwich

Take a trip to Nearby Greenwich to take in its important historical sites, including the Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum, Old Royal Naval College and the Cutty Sark, which is now a floating museum. Also close to Woolwich is Eltham Palace, an impressive art deco house with ornamental gardens and a picnic and play area.

Count your blessings in the City of London

It's a short trip by Tube to central London. Get on the Docklands Light Railway and travel to Bank station to sample the delights of the Square Mile. But it's not all high finance here; shoppers will love an afternoon of retail therapy at Old Spitalfield's Market, which is just a stone's throw away. Looking for cheap accommodation Near Woolwich?
