Village charm in inner London

With its leafy streets, mansion houses, boutiques, golf course and horse riding trails, you might assume Dulwich isin the middle of the countryside if you didn't know any better. In fact, this stylish district of London is just a 20-minute train ride from the city centre, so you can enjoy the perfect blend of chilled out relaxation and life in the fast lane.

Unwind in the local parks

One of Dulwich's best assets is its green spaces. Dulwich Park is a sweeping expanse of meadow in the heart of the village, with a boating lake, table tennis, tennis courts, bowling green and winter garden. You can also hire tandem bikes for a romantic tour of the park. Nearby Brockwell Park has a walled flower garden, charming clock tower, sports pitches and lido, one of London's few remaining outdoor pools. Lambeth Country Show is held there every July, featuring a country fair, live music and funfair.

Soak up culture at Dulwich Picture Gallery

If you're looking for something a little less touristy than London's more famous National and Tate galleries, check out this small gem set in beautiful grounds. It houses one of the country's finest collections of old masters, with works by Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Canaletto. Looking for accommodation in Dulwich? Both Travelodge London Vauxhall and Travelodge London Balham hotels are within 3 miles of the parks and gallery.
