An urban home from home at the University of West London

Based in the vibrant Queen of the Suburbs in Ealing, the University of West London is set among the leafy streets of the borough and close to Ealing Studios, best known for the classic comedies of the 1950s. The world-famous attractions of central London are a 25-minute Tube ride away.

The university, which was first founded as the Lady Byron School in 1860, offers more than 1,400 courses, from airport management to forensic science.

Relax or get fit on Ealing Common

Even though the university is in the city, it's surrounded by masses of green space. Ealing Common is a popular spot for weekend sports and picnics, and hosts several festivals and circus spectaculars throughout the year.

With its ornamental bridges, ponds and walled rose garden, Walpole Park is a lovely place for a gentle stroll. Matlock Lodge, opposite the park, is home to the Questors Theatre where you watch new plays or take a free backstage tour.

Shop 'til you drop at Westfield

The local Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre has high-street favourites such as M&S and Next, but if you want more variety, head for the vast malls of the Westfield Centre, a 20-minute Tube journey away. With more than 300 stores, you're in retail wonderland here. Find everything from Adidas to Zara.
