Visit Gunnersbury Park

Around 6 miles west of central London, Acton is close to the North Circular road. It was originally known as "Soapsuds Island" because of its many laundries thanks to soft local water, but now places like Gunnersbury Park are the big draw. The park has two Grade II listed Georgian mansions, plus plenty to do with regular activities held from park runs to things for the kids - especially over the holidays.

Go go karting

Race along 500m of track, facing 7 corners in 28 seconds, at up to 40mph! The multi-level TeamSport Acton course is one of the fastest in the country, and will bring out the inner Lewis Hamilton in you. Both first-timers and experienced karters race to find the right line on the banked corners ahead of their rivals. There's a bar, with food and drink available.

A must for transport fans...

Travel enthusiasts can also visit the London Transport Museum Depot on one of the regular guided tours or special weekends when it's open to the public. It's a store for more than 320,000 objects that they haven't got room for at the main museum. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Acton? Travelodge London Park Royal Hotel is little more than a mile away, while Travelodge London Kew Bridge Hotel and Travelodge London Ealing Hotel are almost as close.
