Situated in the centre of the Merseyside region, Haydock is handy for two of the best racecourses in the country - ideal if you fancy placing a few bets, or simply enjoy the social side of racing life. Haydock Park holds a number of meets with the highlight being the TENsational weekends. Alongside the racing and social days, the course also hosts several live music events. A little further afield is the world famous Aintree Racecourse - home of the Grand National.

Be bold as brass

The North West has a strong tradition for brass bands, and the Haydock Brass Band is one of the oldest and best. Running since 1861, it's the oldest community-run organisation in St Helens and has gained nationwide recognition. The band performs the ceremonial fanfares at the Grand National and can also be seen at Haydock Park Racecourse. They also are keepers of one of the largest libraries of brass band music in the country.

Haydock is in the centre of the St Helens region, which provides great access to not only the Nearby countryside but also cities like Liverpool.
