Glorious sands at elegant Filey

Filey is a small town on the North Yorkshire coast boasting miles of spectacular sands. Just south of bustling Scarborough, this is the perfect place to relax in quieter surroundings while still enjoying all the seaside has to offer.

Eating and drinking in Filey

This is the seaside, so you really need to warm your cockles with some fish and chips, and you'll find lots to choose from Near the promenade. Try Inghams for starters, or head to the Lighthouse Tea Rooms for a slap-up afternoon tea. The Piebald Inn serves great pies, and there are plenty of good pubs to enjoy a quiet pint.

Down the coast to Scarborough

The resort of Scarborough is just over 20 minutes' drive and a much livelier seaside town. The bay is also spectacular, and Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary is a popular aquarium. The town itself has a lively theatre and arts scene with famed playwright Alan Ayckbourn a local resident.
