Stately events at Swinton Park
Set in 200 acres of Yorkshire parkland, Swinton Park is an impressive stately castle around ten miles north of Ripon. Head to Nearby Pateley Bridge for some beautiful mountain biking trails. Rievaulx Abbey is just under an hour's drive away, but it's well worth the trip for the beauty of the landscape at this atmospheric site. Families will enjoy a trip to Lightwater Valley Theme Park just over 15 minutes' drive, or if you prefer a stroll around a pretty market town head to Richmond, which has lovely shops, a castle offering spectacular views, lots of great places to eat and some fine Georgian buildings.

The elegant town of Harrogate is also well worth a visit, with some classy shopping plus the Yorkshire institution of Betty's Cafe Tea Rooms.
