Eccleshall - a Staffordshire town with plenty of charm

Seven miles north of Stafford, Eccleshall is a pleasant town in the heart of Staffordshire. With a privately-owned castle and a 12th-century church, it's got plenty of history to its name, but it's the charming high street that attracts visitors to the town. From florists and music shops to clothing and interior stores, there's plenty of eccentric boutiques to explore.

Enjoy a country walk

There's over 130 public footpaths leading from Eccleshall to the countryside beyond, and with a few good pubs to stop off for a hearty meal and a pint, there's no excuse not to get your walking shoes on. Just west of the town is Cop Mere, one of Staffordshire's largest lakes and the perfect site for a picnic.

Visit activity-packed Trentham

Less than 20 minutes from Eccleshall lies the Trentham Estate, a fun-packed activity centre in the suburbs of Stoke on Trent. Hang out with the apes at Monkey Forest or relax in the beautiful landscaped Trentham Gardens. Also on site, the Shopping Village has over 70 shops and restaurants, all housed in timber lodges.
