A peaceful setting on the brook

Sat in a valley on the banks of the Lyme Brook and the doorstep of neighbouring Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme enjoys a scenic position in North Staffordshire, but still handy for the M6. Steeped in history, the town takes its name from a 12th century castle, but today is perhaps best known for the atmospheric, in-the-round New Vic Theatre, which regularly attracts big name shows and performers.

The Potteries of Stoke-on-Trent

A former industrial powerhouse, Stoke-on-Trent is just minutes from Newcastle, and tells a fascinating story of a district dominated by pottery manufacturing, still to this day. The so-called 'City of Six Towns' is situated in a privileged position among England's key cities - around halfway between Manchester and Birmingham.
