Community links at Croydon University Hospital

Once known as Mayday Hospital, Croydon University Hospital was renamed in October 2010 to represent its links to the community.

Croydon is a large town, bursting at the seams with bars, restaurants and shops. Its leisure and retail offering is going to be extended further, with the go ahead being given to build a 1.4bn Westfield shopping centre.

The Croydon resurgence

Croydon is an exciting town, with some beautiful green spaces to explore and great selection of places to shop. The town has the oldest market in London - Surrey Street Market- which dates back as far as the 13th Century. This lively market trades six days a week and here you can buy amazing street food and pick up some great bargains. If you're up for the challenge of a haggle, this is the place to do it.

Continental structures on the outskirts of London

Just a 10-minute drive from the hospital, Shirley Windmill is a great place to visit if you get the chance. This was one of the last windmills to be built in this country and is open to the public through guided tours. Dating back to 1854 this windmill is one of beauty and you'll learn so much of its interesting past.

Looking for cheap accommodation, Croydon Central Hotel is less than two miles away while London South Croydon Hotel is just over a 10-minute drive.
