The Recreation Ground on Sanderstead Road covers more than eight acres, and has played host to football and cricket matches in days gone by. Today, it acts as a bandstand for the local musicians and a spot to stroll hand in hand along the railway.

South Croydon is the home of Laithwaite's Winery, that specialises in global wines and champagnes. it holds regular wine tasting sessions, and you can buy tickets online. Afterwards, head for a roast dinner at the Toby Inn carvery.
