Welcome to Castle Vale

Castle Vale is a large housing estate, situated between Minworth and Erdington. With a population of around 10,000, the estate is characterised by the distinctly modern character of its buildings, which is shared by many of the midlands' historic post-war overspill estates. Landmarks include its Knight of the Vale public sculpture, shopping centre, and Castle Vale Centre Park.

Tamworth - The historic capital of the Midlands

The capital of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia, and now a bustling Midlands town, Tamworth offers an interesting mix of the old and the new. Shopping in Tamworth's Old Town offers something a little different to what you might be used to. An avenue of independent, bohemian retailers leads to the Castle Pleasure Grounds, which in turn leads to the town's retail parks, where you can find chains like M&S and John Lewis. For a little more on the history of the town, pay a visit to the ancient Tamworth Castle.

Trace Jane Austen's footsteps at Stoneleigh Abbey

Once an ancient monastic building, Stoneleigh Abbey was converted into a stately home during Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries. This Grade I listed manor has had many notable visitors, including Jane Austen, whose relative inherited it in 1806. Many believe that this magnificent home served as the inspiration for Mansfield Park.
