It's home to an excellent zoo, where more than 1,300 animals reside in ancient woodland around the ruins of the town's 11th-century castle. Get close to lemurs, wallabies, Asiatic bears and red pandas. See the past brought to life at the fantastic Black Country Living Museum. Hop on a tram, venture down a mine, have a whirl on a traditional fairground ride and tuck into fish and chips 1930s-style.
