The suburb of Mount Pleasant sits just a 25 minute walk north of the charming minster town of Dewsbury in West Yorkshire. The Nearby National Coal Mining Museum For England documents the area's rich industrial heritage. The town centre is known for its fine Victorian architecture, while parts of Grade II listed Dewsbury Minster date back to the 13th century. Just to the east of the town centre, Dewsbury Country Park is perfect for long walks and family picnics.

Experience Yorkshire Sculpture Park

20 minutes' drive south of Mount Pleasant in Dewsbury, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. Home to internationally important works by star artists Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, it's a wonderful art trail set in lush parkland surrounding the historic Bretton Hall. Even if the weather lets you down, head to the restored St Bartholomew's Chapel for an indoor gallery space.

Live it up in Leeds

Dewsbury is only 20 minutes on the train from West Yorkshire's biggest city. Leeds is famed for its nightlife, and there is something to suit everyone. Head to Call Lane to mix with students and locals enjoying packed out bars and clubs. The city's hip crowd gather at Beaverworks, Mint or Warehouse to see big-name DJs spinning house, tech and electronica.
