Get back to nature in Cleckheaton

Located in the picturesque Spen Valley, Cleckheaton was once a thriving mill town, but is now more likely to be a haven for craftspeople than textile weavers. To see the area at its best, take the Spen Valley Greenway, a walk along a local disused railway line close to the River Spen. Look out for an impressive collection of artworks, created using old industrial items once familiar in the area, which line the route.

Explore history at Bagshaw Museum

Take a short trip to Nearby Batley to explore Wilton Park's Bagshaw Museum, which houses a cornucopia of delights. Highlights include exhibits about local landmark the Batley Variety Club, as well as displays devoted to Victoriana, South East Asia and the Kingdom of Osiris - an Egypt-themed display that transports its visitors back to ancient times via dramatic lighting effects.
