Explore the Peak District from Meltham

The small Yorkshire town of Meltham is ideally located in between Leeds and Manchester, just south of Huddersfield. But while there's so many big cities Nearby, you're also just a few miles from the Peak District, including Wessenden Moor - which offers fantastic views back across Meltham all the way to Huddersfield. Ten minutes from Meltham, Holmfirth is best known as the location for Last of the Summer Wine. The stone cottages and rolling countryside surrounding the town are immediately recognisable, and the town has held onto its cultural heritage with its Summer Wine Exhibition, where you can see props and photographs from the TV series. It's the perfect day out for any TV fan.

A day trip in Huddersfield

You can reach Huddersfield from Meltham in less than 20 minutes, making the large market town the ideal setting for a day out. Visit Greenhead Park for a tranquil break from busy urban life, or climb Castle Hill for views across the town. Huddersfield is also home to the Kirklees Light Railway, where you can journey by rail through the beautiful South Pennine foothills.
