London’s Best Street Food

Gone are the days of squashed sandwiches and flavourless pasta salads, London street food is all the rage. Both convenient and tasty, street food is a trend that is hopefully here to stay. Whether you need to grab a bite to eat on the go or are a food fanatic who loves browsing market stalls for hours, there is something for everybody on the streets of the capital. From salads to gourmet burgers, ice cream to juices, street food is completely revolutionizing British outdoor dining and giving the best restaurants a run for their money. Street Food is also a good option if you are staying in a London Travelodge, meaning you can save money by avoiding eating out, whilst sampling the best food London has to offer. Here is our list of unmissable street food in London:

1. KERB Kings Cross

Kerb is a daily street food market hidden just behind Kings Cross Station, outside the incredibly hip Central Saint Martins. Bringing you the best of London Street Food, the quirky trucks serve up a variety of delectable dishes at very affordable prices. The food traders are on rotation, with at least 5 different trucks to pick from each day. Hanoi Kitchen provides perfect dishes for the summertime, transporting you to the streets of Hanoi, serving up fragrant Vietnamese salads and rice noodle bun dishes whilst Santana Grill chefs cook up sizzling Mexican burritos whilst wearing their trademark wrestling mask. Those of you with a sweet tooth will adore Jolly Nice’s unmissable ice cream, including flavours such as plum and star’anise, Turkish delight sorbet and buttered pear with cinder toffee. KERB is at Kings Cross from 12 – 5pm but watch out for special events and pop-up KERB at other locations such as Canary Wharf and The Southbank Centre.

Berwick Street Food Market in Soho is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat whilst enjoying a busy day of shopping or site seeing in the West End. The market runs every day from 12 – 2pm but you can often find individual stalls running out of hours or at the weekend. The stalls are on rotation but favourites include Tongue n` Cheek’s award winning burgers or The Bread Man’s artisan sandwiches, cakes and pastries.

3. Borough Market

Bourough Market is Street Food Royalty and the perfect place to visit if you have plenty of time to browse a range of lunch stalls and fresh produce, nibbling on free tasters and drinking in the vibrant environment. Located next to London Bridge, Borough Market is open every day apart from Sunday at varying times, remember to check ahead. Scotchtails create artisan scotch eggs in a range of flavours whilst Horn Ok Please create beautiful vegetarian Indian dishes. Finish your meal off with some jewel-like macaroons from Comptoir Gourmand or, if you are feeling virtuous, a Natural Smoothie!

4. Brixton Market

A relative newcomer to the scene this market is fast gaining a great reputation. The covered market has been revamped in the last few years and is now open daily. For a luxury junk food hit, pick the delicious fried chicken from CHICKENLiquor or a heavenly cheesy feast from Woodbox Pizza. The Sunday Farmers Market is also a great place to pick up unmissable produce, giving you the opportunity to create an indulgent picnic, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
