Where to celebrate Oktoberfest in the UK

Oktoberfest celebrations have been held in Munich since 1810 to celebrate the marriage of the Crown Prince of Bavaria. Since then, this autumn festival has spread its magic across the globe, enticing more visitors year after year.

Don’t be concerned about not making it to Germany for the festival this year, there are some incredible Oktoberfest events here in the UK.


Manchester

Oktoberfest Manchester

This iconic Manchester Oktoberfest hosts over 10,000 guests each year, making it one of the largest Oktoberfests in the UK. Inside the giant tent filled with authentic decoration, you will feast on beer and food served by waiters and waitresses dressed in Lederhosen and Dirndl. Don’t worry though you won’t be left underdressed, your traditional outfit will be shipped to you before the event, once your ticket has been purchased. This year the festival makes its way to Platt Fields Park whilst Albert Square undergoes refurbishment.

Oktoberfest London

Hosted at the Old Billingsgate Market, the London Bierfest aims to bring the spirit of Oktoberfest to the UK’s capital city. Your ticket includes unlimited steins of ABK beer, wine and soft drinks served directly to your table, accompanied by delicious platters of traditional German food. There is an incredible lineup of entertainment, featuring authentic Bavarian music and table dancing, acrobats and even fire artists!

Oktoberfest Edinburgh

Edinburgh Oktoberfest has brought the Bavarian spirit to the heart of Scotland since 2013. From October 5th to October 8th the West Princes Street Gardens will be transformed to replicate the German festival, complete with the traditional tent filled with long tables. A special brewed Bavarian beer will be served alongside pretzel, bratwurst and schnitzel, whilst the German band perform a range of songs. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate the 10 year anniversary!

Newcastle

Oktoberfest Newcastle

Described as ‘the biggest Bavarian party in the North’, Newcastle are hosting Oktoberfest in Times Square for 3 weekends running from October 13th to October 28th. Inside the themed beer hall decorated with blue and white streamers, you’ll be treated to live music from The Bavarian Strollers and New York Brass Band to name a few. With steins to drink and much to eat from bratwurst, currywurst, pretzel and frankfurters, there won’t be any empty stomachs in sight.

Oktoberfest Southampton

The biggest Oktoberfest on the south coast, Southampton is set to host the festival for its sixth year at Guildhall Square from October 27th to October 28th. As is the custom at any Oktoberfest, there will be plenty of steins and Bavarian food to go around, with vegan options available!
