Getting together at Missenden Abbey

Visiting for a wedding or conference? The 12th-century Missenden Abbey is set in colourful flower-filled gardens in the heart of the Chilterns. Destroyed by fire in 1985, the medieval Abbey was lovingly rebuilt and is now also a subsidiary of Buckinghamshire New University, offering postgraduate short courses.

Be inspired at the Roald Dahl Museum

Missenden Abbey is close to the pretty village of Great Missenden, where children's author Roald Dahl lived for 36 years. The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre has three interactive galleries aimed at six to 12-year-olds. In the Boy gallery, you can learn all about the author's school days, while the Solo gallery houses his original Writing Hut. The Story Centre has lots of activities to inspire budding writers.
